How do I use my oil?

We suggest applying face oil directly onto the skin after you wash your face with warm water each morning and night, as a last step to your beauty routine. Oils provide a protective barrier to help lock-in moisture while delivering nourishing vitamins to your skin. You should not need a moisturizer when applying facial oils, however if you want to use both, just add a couple of drops of oil into your moisturizer just before you apply it.

Your skin does not need to be totally dry to before you apply facial oil. Actually, applying to damp skin can actually help the oil absorb and spread more quickly and easily.

You only need a few drops of oil per use. After allowing 5 minutes for the facial oil to sink in, if your skin still feels oily you are probably using too much. After 5 minutes your skin should feel soft and hydrated. Typically people need 3—5 drops of oil per use, so simply alter the amount you're applying depending on how your skin feels after each application.

Your body oil is best absorbed when applied to warm, damp skin. After you get out of the shower, towel off slightly and then massage the oil in circular motions into your skin.

Tip: Excess oil makes a great hand and nail cream, so massage any left-overs into your cuticles and nail bed.

Of course, if any irritation occurs, discontinue use. We sometimes use oils derived from nuts like hazelnut, so please be aware of possible allergens. We always recommend speak to your doctor before using any beauty oils if you have a nut allergy.

Can I wear it with makeup?

You can apply makeup over a light layer of your facial oil, just allow a few minutes (3—5) for the oil to absorb first. Or, add a drop of oil to your foundation for a dewy, fresh finish.

Our Customized Face Oil and Customized Body Oil products are crafted specifically for your skin type. We draw on this library of oils, consider their various properties, and blend a product specific to your needs. Different oils are known to offer varying benefits; some are antioxidant-rich while others are antibacterial, so great for blemish-prone complexions. Are your products vegan?

Our line is 100% Vegan with No Animal Testing at all. It's very important to us that we stay cruelty-free (we love animals!).

How should I store my oil?

We do not use any synthetic preservatives, which means our beauty oils have a shelf life of 12 months. Please keep stored in a cool, dark area to protect the natural, botanical ingredients.

How long does shipping take and what does it cost?

USA: For orders within the United States we offer Free USPS Priority 3-Day shipping.

Normally it will take three-to-five business days handling time to ship your order. During this time we are creating your order by hand. Each item we send out is handcrafted—everything from the packaging to the oil formulation is tailored just for you. Handcrafted items do take a little longer to create than mass-produced items.

You will receive a tracking code via email once the item has been shipped. If you need an item urgently for an event or gift, please reach out to us via the contact page before placing your order and we'll work with you to make sure it's received as soon as possible.

Australia: Shipping within Australia starts at $10. Most customers receive their orders within 10 business days, however due to this process please allow up to 14 business days processing time, plus several days delivery time, for your order.

Orders are handmade and packaged with your customized label in our New York City lab, and then shipped in small batches to a dispatch location in Brisbane, where they will be sent directly to your address via Australia Post same day. You will receive a tracking code once your order arrives at our Brisbane dispatch location and is sent on via Australia Post.

International: We do offer international shipping via USPS which normally takes 10—14 business days, depending on the country in which you live. Please get in touch if you have a specific shipping request and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Return Policy:

We want you to love your new oil as much as we do! Due to the nature of our product though, we can't accept returns. Instead, we can offer a replacement blend or a store credit in some situations. Please email hello@itsthebuff.com and we'll be happy to help you. We typically respond to all emails within 24 hours!
